About Us

The “HOUSE OF PRAISE” trust is a secular charitable organization that has nurtured itself to meet the emerging challenges of the oppressed in society over the past years. Having given the priority to the abandoned girl children, a girl’s home was started on August 24 ,1933 near Ulsoor gate. The team then moved to Hoskote and established as a registered trust in 1947 and then eventually a boy’s home was started in 1967 in Sathnur, Kanakapura Karnataka. The trust embraces its objectives that would address to social, economic, educational, and cultural needs of all the children adopted to the trust and to the community.

THE Origin of the Trust

Miss E.E. Bagshaw, Miss E.K. Bagshaw, Miss Grace Cole, and Miss Beatrice M. Fountain came to Hoskote as missionaries back in the 18th Century. They were devastated to see the poor condition of living of the people here and were even more disturbed to find that girl children were being abandoned and abused. Soon they planned to take up the challenge of protecting these abandoned children and providing them shelter. They purchased land from Mrs. Mallama a kind lady at Hoskote to perpetuate purposes such as Girl’s Homes for their protection and development to groom them into responsible citizens of this nation.

After India received Independence in the year 1947, when Karanataka was still known as the “State of Mysore”, the missionaries soon wanted to have this organization registered as an Indian organization so that the legacy of their compassionate work could continue forever in this country. On 17 October 1947, the board members, Miss E.E. Bagshaw, Miss E.K. Bagshaw, Miss Grace Cole, and Miss Beatrice M. Fountain registered the organization as “House Of Praise Trust” to be executed for the charitable works as a recognized entity under the Government of India.
The board members of this charitable organization also included Ellsworth Vernon Steele, Dr. H. Paul, and Walter Faszer. After the demise of Ellsworth Vernon Steele, Mr. Allan Faszer and Miss Blessing Harper joined the team. They were residing at the House of Praise to take care of the young girls and run the organization along with the other competent and committed people on the board.
